Dr. Bret Strogen has been evaluating and advising on innovative bioeconomy initiatives for the last 15 years and is supporting Visolis’s efforts to align innovative bioproduct development efforts with national security imperatives and federal funding opportunities. Dr. Strogen previously performed academic research for eight years on the life-cycle environmental and economic impacts of scaling up cellulosic biofuels in the United States and spent seven years at the Pentagon—most recently as the Army’s Special Assistant for Energy and Sustainability. At the Defense Department, Dr. Strogen advised internal and interagency alternative energy and fuels initiatives, oversaw energy contracting programs, and coordinated reports to Congress on the department’s biofuels and energy technology development activities.

​​​​​​​Bret holds a BS in Environmental Engineering from the University of Delaware and a MS and PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
