I am a trained forest ecologist active in the dissection point where forest management meets biodiversity conservation. I have a strong interest in sustainable forest management including optimization of biodiversity and carbon values on commercial production forests. I come from a background as a field ecologist, working for many years with forest certification and developing methods for biodiversity quantification in forests.
Recently, I have developed a strong interest for the new and emerging business models for forest biodiversity. Together with Qarlbo Natural Asset Company, I am working with developing a biodiversity credit methodology applicable to various conservation, restoration and improved forest management projects, with the objective to achieve additional biodiversity gains in commercial forest landscapes. Earlier this year, within a pilot project, we successfully implemented our draft methodology in one of the first biocredit transactions globally. Lately, together with colleagues in the newly established Swedish Biocredit Alliance (SBA) we have started the work to define and design the market in Sweden for biodiversity credits, in consultation with suppliers (forest owners), investors/buyers as well as NGOs.
